Jaret Patterson signs with Chargers' practice squad Wednesday

Former Commanders' RB Jaret Patterson has signed with the Chargers' practice squad, per Daniel Popper on Twitter.

Fantasy Impact

Adding Patterson to the practice squad could indicate that Austin Ekeler (ankle) may be legitimately questionable for Week 2. If Ekeler does not get any practice in this week or is ultimately ruled out, Patterson would be a candidate to back up Joshua Kelley in Week 2 when the Chargers face the Titans.

Jaret Patterson signed to Commanders' active roster

The Washington Commanders signed RB Jaret Patterson to the team's active roster following RB Antonio Gibson being placed on injured reserve.

Fantasy Impact

Gibson and Brian Robinson will both miss the team's final game of the season against the Dallas Cowboys. RB Jonathan Williams saw a season-high 12 touches in Week 17 for 33 yards. Williams will likely be the team's lead back, but Patterson will also be active as Washington carries just two RBs into the final game.

Jaret Patterson released among roster cuts Tuesday

Jaret Patterson was released by the Commanders as they go through the final cutting process.

Fantasy Impact

Patterson made the Commanders roster last season as an undrafted RB out of the University of Buffalo. He had over 250 rushing yards and a couple of TDs last season, but the addition of Brian Robinson Jr. to an already crowded backfield has ultimately forced the Commanders' hand. It appears as though they will be keeping Jonathan Williams on the team as the fourth back.
