The Chiefs released OT Jawaan Taylor.
Fantasy Impact
This had been the expectation this offseason and it is now official. Taylor signed a four-year, $80 million deal with Kansas City during the 2023 offseason. He is coming off battling a shoulder injury this past season. His release will open up $20 million in cap space for the Chiefs.
Jawaan Taylor is rumored to be on his way out of Kansas City. If the Chiefs cut the right tackle, it would save them $20 million towards the team's cap.
Fantasy Impact
A seven-year veteran in the NFL, Taylor has played with the Jaguars and Chiefs and has started all 111 games he has appeared in. He received a four-year, $80 million contract from Kansas City in 2023 and started both Chiefs' Super Bowl teams in 2023 and 2024. However, he has struggled with penalties - 40 in three seasons - and he underwent knee surgery last summer and finished the 2025 campaign on injured reserve. If he is cut, Taylor should land a starting job elsewhere, but he won't command the contract he received three years ago.
Jawaan Taylor (elbow) has been placed on season-ending IR with an elbow injury.
Fantasy Impact
The Chiefs are hurting right now with many of their top options and depth out or dealing with injury. Taylor is no exception. Now on IR, he will miss the rest of the season, weakening the Chiefs' offensive line.
