Jeremy Mincey retires on Tuesday

Former Dallas Cowboys DE Jeremy Mincey retired from the NFL after nine seasons in the league on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact

Mincey retired from the NFL on Tuesday. He accumulated 26 sacks and one interception during his nine-year career and played with the Cowboys, Jaguars and Broncos in that span.

Jeremy Mincey breaks through against the Eagles

Mincey records two sacks against the Eagles, fueling a 38-27 win for the Cowboys in Philadelphia

Fantasy Impact

This is the fourth time in Mincey's career that he had multiple sacks and the first time since 2011; the Cowboys needed Mincey to make an impact against the Eagles, as the team only finished with one sack in the 33-10 Eagles win. In the past seven games, Mincey has five sacks; the Cowboys are still only 28th in the NFL in sacks, but Mincey has 45% of the team's sacks in the past five games. The Colts rank 12th in the NFL in sacks allowed, but the Cowboys blitzed well against the Eagles and found ways to get to Mark Sanchez; look for Mincey to get to Andrew Luck in similar ways on Sunday.

Jeremy Mincey creates stability on the defensive line

The Cowboys look to emulate their Week 6 opponent, Seattle, in defensive line rotation; Jeremy Mincey leads the way in that rotation.

Fantasy Impact

Mincey is in his 7th year and, other than solid 2010 and 2011 seasons, has never really been an impact player in the NFL. This season, though, scouts and Cowboys coaches alike have liked his impact on the defensive line. The Cowboys have been ravaged with injuries on defense this year and Mincey's ability to play 40+ snaps in four of five games is huge for the team. As a team, the Cowboys have been awful at getting to the quarterback and Mincey needs to get some sacks to build value as an IDP, but the Cowboys will continue to give him opportunities. Monitor his snaps as Anthony Spencer and Henry Melton get more involved in the defense.
