LB - MIA
Week 2 Outlook
The Dolphins have signed linebacker Jerome Baker to a four-year extension worth $39 million. The deal also includes $28.4 million in guaranteed money.
Baker has impressed through his first three years with Miami and now gets a big payday at just 24 years old. Over 48 games, he's logged 11.5 sacks, 317 tackles, and two interceptions. He ranks 19th among linebackers in the latest expert consensus IDP rankings.
Jerome Baker logged six solo tackles, three assisted tackles, and a forced fumble in a massive 27-24 upset over the Patriots.
Baker and Dolphins played the role of spoiler on Sunday, pushing the Patriots out of home-field advantage for this year's playoffs. As for Baker, he finished the year with three solid performances and brought his season tackle total to 127. He seems to be one of the cornerstones for this rebuilding Dolphins defense and is a name worth remembering for next year's draft.
Jerome Baker had a fine individual effort in a 36-20 loss to the Giants, recording six solo tackles, six assisted tackles, one TFL, one pass defended, and one interception.
Baker has easily been the best Dolphins' defender this year, at least from a fantasy standpoint, but lacks an elite playmaking ability to reach the upper echelons of IDPs. He's an adequate play when the Dolphins play the Bengals next Sunday, though he's unlikely to outright win you the week.
