RB - CLE
Jerome Ford carried the ball 10 times for 57 yards and a touchdown while adding four catches for 45 yards and another score in a 24-13 win over the Jaguars in Friday's preseason game.
Ford stole the show, scoring Cleveland's only two offensive touchdowns, although he did lose a fumble. The fifth-round rookie out of Cincinnati is competing for a spot behind Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, and D'Ernest Johnson for the upcoming season, although he could move up the depth chart if Hunt winds up getting his wish of Cleveland trading him. Ford is an interesting name in deep dynasty leagues.
The Cleveland Browns have drafted RB Jerome Ford with the No. 156 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
The 5-foot-10, 210-pound back from Cincinnati was a first-team All-American Athletic Conference award winner in 2021. He had 215 carries with 1,319 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns on the season. Scouts consider him a well-built back for the NFL with subpar vision and creativity. He will most likely serve as a special teams or practice squad member, so he doesn't hold a lot of value in fantasy leagues.
Fresh out of Cincinnati, Jerome Ford ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash to go along with a vertical jump of 31 inches and broad jump of 9 feet, 9 inches.
Ford currently has a grade of 5.97, which translates to "average backup or special teamer." He does contain breakaway speed and has good enough running vision to find a hole to burst through. One fantasy weakness being noted is his abilities as a pass catcher, but he is a solid runner who withstands hits well once he has the ball in his hands.
