TE - HOU
Week 2 Outlook
Jordan Akins caught both of his targets for 39 yards and one touchdown in the Texans' Week 1 loss to the Chiefs by a 34-20 score.
Akins split time with veteran Darren Fells at tight end on Thursday and it looks like that should continue during the season. Akins will not see enough targets to warrant being owned in anything but deeper fantasy formats.
Aaron Reiss of The Athletic picks Texans TE Jordan Akins as a possible "fantasy sleeper" this season.
Akins led Houston tight ends with 55 targets last season, but obviously it didn't amount to a ton of fantasy production. Fantasy managers can consider him one of the many, late-round TE options available in drafts. In Akins' case he makes more sense in deeper formats.
TE Jordan Akins is doing well in camp, per John Harris of HoustonTexans.com.
Akins is having a strong camp and continues to make one big play after another. He is becoming a red zone threat for QB Deshaun Watson. The 28-year-old TE did work out with Watson during the offseason, and the two have showed great chemistry in training camp. He hauled in 36 receptions for 418 yards and two touchdowns across 16 games in 2019. Akins is currently 36th among all tight ends in the latest expert consensus rankings and is worth a late-round flyer in TE premium leagues.
Jordan Akins enters the weekend questionable to play against the Chiefs due to a hamstring injury.
The injury sidelined Akins last weekend against the Bills. With Akins out, fellow tight end Darren Fells caught four of five targets for 37 yards. Now, Fells is also dealing with an ailment, as he was added late in the week to the team's injury report. If either is forced to miss the game, it would make the team's active tight end an interesting value play this weekend.
Jordan Akins hauled in five of seven targets for 54 yards in the team's Week 17 loss to the Titans
Akins had one of his best games of the season for the Texans on Sunday. The second year tight end finishes 2019 with 36 receptions and 418 yards. Akins will be in contention for the top spot on the depth chart in 2020.
