Ta’amu signed with the Vikings last week and was brought in after the team decided to rest backup Nick Mullens. The former XFL Offensive Player of the Year will look for another opportunity in the NFL or could potentially return to the XFL for another season.

Ta’amu most recently played with the DC Defenders of the XFL where he won Offensive Player of the Year. He threw for 14 TDs with just three INTs, was seventh in the league in rushing yards and led the team to a 9-1 record and a championship berth. He also played for St. Louis in the 2020 XFL season, bouncing from team to team in between. Ta’amu starts off as the QB4 between veterans Kirk Cousins and Nick Mullens and rookie Jaren Hall, though he can likely find his way as a practice squad player in Minnesota.

Ta'amu signed with the Chiefs after a stint in the XFL, but was waived and added to their practice squad before the start of the 2020 season. He later joined the Lions practice squad, but did not see playing time with either team. This signing comes as Tim Boyle (ankle) and David Blough (shoulder) are both banged up.

It's been a tough week for the NFL. Titans-Steelers has already been delayed and now Patriots-Chiefs is up in the air following the positive test of Cam Newton. The current plan is for the Patriots and Chiefs to play on either Monday or Tuesday.

Ta’amu recently played for the St. Louis Battlehawks of the XFL, and led all quarterbacks with 217 yards rushing. He will be the third on the Chiefs quarterback depth chart behind Patrick Mahomes and Chad Henne. Ta’amu is at best a dart throw in deep-league dynasty formats.
