TE - IND
Week 17 Outlook
The Patriots claimed TE Jordan Thomas off waivers.
Thomas could see some immediate opportunity as New England only has one healthy tight end at the moment in Ryan Izzo. Thomas was with the Cardinals' practice squad this year and was in line for playing time with the Texans in 2019 before getting hurt.
Former Texans TE Jordan Thomas is expected to join the Arizona Cardinals practice squad.
Thomas became expendable with the emergence of young tight ends Jordan Akins and Kahale Warring. He goes to a Cardinals team that has a couple decent options at the position in Dan Arnold and Maxx Williams, but neither are established and Thomas could play a role should something happen to Arnold or Williams.
ESPN's Field Yates is reporting that the Texans have placed starting TE Jordan Thomas on IR with a rib injury.
Thomas was a deep sleeper option for some heading into the season. Houston lacks an appealing fantasy option at TE with his loss.
Jordan Thomas caught two passes on six targets for 33 yards in a preseason loss to the Cowboys on Saturday by a 34-0 score.
Thomas currently sits atop the Texans' depth chart at tight end and looks more and more like he will enter the season that way. Thomas is a big target at 6'5" and could see plenty of targets in the red zone and will be worth drafting in deeper fantasy formats.
Jordan Thomas caught two of five targets for 17 yards in the Texans' 30-23 preseason win over the Lions on Saturday.
Thomas has been dealing with a hamstring issue that caused him to miss the first preseason game but he looked fine on Saturday. The second-year TE caught 20 passes in his rookie season and looks to have a bigger impact this year as he sits atop the depth chart for the Texans.
