Week 8 Outlook
TE Josiah Deguara is listed as active for tonight's game against the 49ers, after missing Week 2 with a concussion.
Deguara is back after missing last week's game versus the Lions with a concussion. He is well off the fantasy radar, playing behind Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis.
Packers TE Josiah Deguara suffered a torn ACL in Week 4, head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed on Tuesday.
Tough break for the 3rd-round rookie. He’ll be out for the season now with the torn ACL. Robert Tonyan will continue to lead the way for the Packers at the tight end position and was dominant in Week 4, catching 6-of-6 targets for 98 yards and three touchdowns.
Josiah Deguara led all Packers tight ends with two targets and one reception during Sunday's game. Deguara's catch went for 12 yards in the Packers win against the Minnesota Vikings.
There were some questions heading into the season as to who the Packers top pass catching tight end would be. Deguara left this game as that player, but it did not lead to much fantasy production at all. It looked like the Packers are comfortable using their receivers and running backs as their main pass catchers. It is likely that the Packers will have a different tight end lead the team in targets each week unless someone can break themselves away from the crowd.
Third-round pick out of Cincinnati TE Josiah Deguara agrees to terms on his four-year rookie contract with the Green Bay Packers.
While Deguara is listed as a TE, he should act as more of an H-back for a Green Bay team that seems to be having a makeover on offense. With the addition of Boston College’s A.J. Dillon in the second-round, it’s clear Matt LaFleur wants to run the ball first. The Packers may very well run plays out of the 12-personnel set, to include both Deguara and Jace Sternberger, but we’d expect the latter to be the pass-catching tight end replacement to Jimmy Graham. Deguara at this point is just a dart throw option in very deep TE-premium leagues.
The Green Bay Packers have selected tight end Josiah Deguara with the No. 94 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Green Bay finally adds a pass catcher for Aaron Rodgers to work with, but it probably isn't what he had in mind. The Cincinnati tight end was also asked to work out as a running back during the 2020 combine and could function as an H-back in the NFL. His versatility in this regard certainly helped make him a more appealing pick to the Packers.
