G J.R. Sweezy, a former seventh-round pick, is signing a one-day contract with the Seattle Seahawks to retire with the team who drafted him in 2012.

Sweezy was drafted in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of North Carolina State and started three games as a rookie. He won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks in 2014 and played five seasons with them, starting 64 games. He played one season with the Buccaneers in 2017 in between his first and second stints in Seattle, starting 14 games, and he played for the Arizona Cardinals in 2019 and 2020, starting 26 games. He signed with the New Orleans Saints before the 2021 season but was released in August before playing a game. After missing the 2021 season, he will retire as a Seahawk after nine seasons.
Cardinals G J.R. Sweezy (elbow) has been activated from IR and will play in Week 10 versus the Buffalo Bills.
Fantasy Impact
Sweezy left Week 5 with an elbow injury and was placed on IR as a result. He'll make his return to the offensive line in Week 10 which is good news for Kyler Murray and Chase Edmonds/Kenyan Drake owners.
