Week 14 Outlook
Availability
The Pittsburgh Steelers have released defensive back Justin Gilbert Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Gilbert, a three-year veteran cornerback, was cut by the Steelers Monday. He was acquired by the team via trade in early September but failed to make an impact in 12 games active. He is a free agent.
Justin Gilbert made his first start of the year at cornerback on Monday night. He made one solo tackle before departing in the second half with a concussion.
Fantasy Impact
Gilbert sustained the concussion on a kick return and did not return. The former first-round pick continues to disappoint, but at least his start on Monday was a step in the right direction. He will have a tough time getting cleared in time for his Week 13 game against Cincinnati.
2014 first round pick Justin Gilbert was inactive for the season opener against the Jets on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
Gilbert continues to disappoint after the team made him their first pick in last year's draft. He has a long way to go before he can be considered a fantasy option.
In a combined practice against the Bills on Monday, Justin Gilbert unofficially allowed 11 pass completions and three to go for touchdowns compared to zero pass breakups in 1-on-1 coverage drills.
Fantasy Impact
Gilbert squared off against Sammy Watkins and the rest of the Buffalo receiving corps, minus Percy Harvin who sat with a hip issue. Gilbert is shaping up like a bust and is a long shot to start Week 1.
Justin Gilbert continued to struggle for the Browns in their first preseason game against the Redskins. He blew coverage that allowed Pierre Garcon to get behind him for a deep ball. Luckily for Gilbert, Garcon dropped the pass.
Fantasy Impact
Gilbert, a former first-round pick, has been a bust so far for the Browns. He is still young and has a chance to turn things around, but he likely will not begin the season as a starter. He is simply an upside stash in deep dynasty IDP leagues at this point.
