Steelers HC Mike McCarthy told reporters, “everybody has a clean slate and let’s get to work,” when asked about RB Kaleb Johnson.
Fantasy Impact
The former third-round pick had an extremely underwhelming rookie campaign, carrying the ball 28 times for 69 yards across 10 appearances. Entering 2026, he sits behind both Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle on the team’s depth chart. His path to fantasy relevance will be very difficult unless he stands out in training camp.
Steelers RB Kaleb Johnson is officially inactive for Week 17.
Fantasy Impact
Johnson was not listed on the injury report this week and will be a healthy inactive. Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell will serve as the primary running backs against Cleveland.
Kaleb Johnson was active for Thursday's 33-31 loss to the Bengals but did not play any offensive snaps.
Fantasy Impact
After receiving six carries in each of the previous two games, Johnson was held off the field entirely despite being active. Jaylen Warren dominated the backfield touches with a stellar performance, while Kenneth Gainwell also saw significant playing time. As long as Warren and Gainwell are healthy, opportunities will be scarce for Johnson, making him irrelevant in fantasy leagues.
Kaleb Johnson rushed six times for 15 yards in the Steelers' 23-9 win over the Browns in Week 6.
Fantasy Impact
Johnson has struggled to make a substantial impact out of the Pittsburgh backfield when active, finishing with less than 25 rushing yards in each of his four games for the Steelers. The rookie running back cannot be trusted in any format ahead of a Week 7 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Kaleb Johnson rushed for 22 yards on six carries in the Steelers 24-21 win over the Vikings. He did not record a catch on his lone target.
Fantasy Impact
With Jaylen Warren inactive due to a knee injury, rookie Kaleb Johnson was pressed into duty as the backup to Kenneth Gainwell. The Steelers are off in Week 5 for their bye and Warren should return to action, pushing Johnson back to the third running back on the depth chart.
