Kaleb Johnson
RB - Pittsburgh Steelers
Availability
Kaleb Johnson was active for Thursday's 33-31 loss to the Bengals but did not play any offensive snaps.
Fantasy Impact
After receiving six carries in each of the previous two games, Johnson was held off the field entirely despite being active. Jaylen Warren dominated the backfield touches with a stellar performance, while Kenneth Gainwell also saw significant playing time. As long as Warren and Gainwell are healthy, opportunities will be scarce for Johnson, making him irrelevant in fantasy leagues.
Kaleb Johnson rushed six times for 15 yards in the Steelers' 23-9 win over the Browns in Week 6.
Fantasy Impact
Johnson has struggled to make a substantial impact out of the Pittsburgh backfield when active, finishing with less than 25 rushing yards in each of his four games for the Steelers. The rookie running back cannot be trusted in any format ahead of a Week 7 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Kaleb Johnson rushed for 22 yards on six carries in the Steelers 24-21 win over the Vikings. He did not record a catch on his lone target.
Fantasy Impact
With Jaylen Warren inactive due to a knee injury, rookie Kaleb Johnson was pressed into duty as the backup to Kenneth Gainwell. The Steelers are off in Week 5 for their bye and Warren should return to action, pushing Johnson back to the third running back on the depth chart.
Kaleb Johnson is “probably” not returning kicks in Week 3 after his special teams gaffe where he failed to return a live ball that resulted in a Seattle touchdown.
Fantasy Impact
Head Coach Mike Tomlin said he still believes in Kaleb and will let him “earn his way back” and still give him touches because he believes in his talent. Most fantasy leagues don’t give return yard points, so this doesn’t impact the box score outright. But it does hurt the trust coaches have in him, and while they seem willing to let him grow from his mistakes, he will need to impress and stay mistake free to get back into their good graces and fantasy managers lineups alike.
Kaleb Johnson ran for one yard one on one carry in the Steelers 31-17 loss against the Seahawks.
Fantasy Impact
The big mistake for Johnson came on special teams when a kickoff landed over his head and into the end zone. The Seahawks fell onto the ball in the end zone for what was called a touchdown. He appears to be well off the fantasy radar right now.
