Nwangwu was waived by the Vikings Tuesday, but it did not take long for the kick returner to find a new home. He will likely operate as a depth running back and see most of his playing time on special teams.

The Minnesota Vikings are expected to part ways with RB/KR Kene Nwangwu by Tuesday's roster deadline, either via trade or cut.

Nwangwu is a one-time All-Pro out of Iowa State, and his departure comes as somewhat of a surprise. The Vikings have seen him start as their kick returner for the last three seasons, taking back 68 returns over that time in 37 games. Minnesota is only set to carry three RBs at this point (Aaron Jones, Ty Chandler and FB C.J. Ham), so another move is possible.
