The 49ers exercised Kyle Juszczyk's option to retain him for the 2020 NFL season.
Juszczyk is one of the few remaining fullbacks in the NFL, and he certainly played an important role with San Francisco in 2019. While he didn't do enough to warrant fantasy-relevance, he was enough of a contributor that he siphoned opportunities from other San Francisco running backs. Given the presence of Juszczyk, Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert, and Tevin Coleman, the 49ers' backfield is a clear committee which limits everyone's value.
Kyle Juszczyk (knee) does not carry an injury designation into Monday's contest against the Seahawks.
Juszczyk 's could be in for a larger role as the 49ers are expected to be without their star tight end, George Kittle (knee/ankle). The All-Pro fullback could possibly fill in at tight end for Kittle. Expect Juszczyk to play his usual role as a run blocker and he could see some snaps at tight end with Kittle sidelined.
Kyle Juszczyk suffered a grade 2 MCL sprain and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. The fullback, however, is optimistic about an earlier timetable ahead of the four weeks and will seek a second opinion on the severity of his injury.
Juszczyk holds little fantasy value directly, but his absence is likely to be felt to some degree by the running corps as the Pro Bowl fullback provides a strong blocking presence. Matt Breida's opening touchdown on Monday night was made possible by a key block Juszczyk set. As a capable receiver out of the backfield, he also adds an additional dimension that defenses need to account for so the offense as a whole will miss his presence.
49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk suffered a knee sprain according to Kyle Shanahan in his post-game press conference. An MRI on Monday will determine the severity of the injury.
The impact is likely to be felt by all the 49ers' running backs as Juszczyk is widely versatile in the offense and is arguably the best fullback in the league. He's likely to miss the upcoming matchup against the Rams, but a severe knee sprain could keep him out for an extended period of time. Check back for updates once his MRI results come through.
49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk was carted off the field with what is being called a "leg injury" during Monday night's game against the Cleveland Browns.
Juszczyk collided with a defender while throwing a block and immediately appeared to grab his knee. He stayed on the field for a few moments before eventually being helped off and then taking a cart into the locker room. He is currently being considered questionable to return, though it is highly unlikely we see any more of Juszczyk tonight due to the scored of the game and what appears to be a significant injury.
