Kyle Orton retires

Kyle Orton announced his retirement Monday morning. “I just have been going at it for 10 years and it’s just a family decision and I’ve decided to get home and be a dad and call it a day,” Orton said.

Fantasy Impact

Orton departs after an inconsistent season typical of his career. The Bills' options now are to give E.J. Manuel another shot, acquire a veteran such as Jay Cutler, or take a quarterback in a draft in which they have no first-round pick. Or all of the above.

Kyle Orton finishes mediocre year with mediocre game

Kyle Orton completed 16 of 23 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown in the season finale at New England.

Fantasy Impact

Orton didn't need to throw much as the Bills led the whole way. Orton's season was just about as expected, with production depending largely on game flow, and inconsistent accuracy. The Bills have been rumored to seek a veteran QB in the offseason, such as Jay Cutler, and are expected to give E.J. Manuel another chance, but if Orton does return as the starter, expect more of the same or worse.

Kyle Orton has good game on scoresheet

Kyle Orton completed 32 of 49 passes for 329 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in Week 16 at Oakland.

Fantasy Impact

This is a case of being better in fantasy than in real life. Other than the three TD strikes, Orton was awful, but that’s good enough for a big fantasy day. Sheer volume could put Orton on the DFS radar in the finale at New England next week; he threw for 299 yards and two TDs in the Bills’ other game against the Pats, in Week 6.

Kyle Orton rides defense to victory

Kyle Orton completed 14 of 27 passes for just 158 yards in Week 15's upset of Green Bay. He threw one interception with no touchdowns.

Fantasy Impact

Over the past six weeks, Orton is averaging a pitiful 6 yards per attempt with five touchdown passes in that span. His only relevance is in two-QB leagues, and even that is looking shaky right now. The Bills' defense is carrying them right now.

Kyle Orton racks up garbage points

Kyle Orton completed 38 of 57 passes for 355 yards, one touchdown pass, a touchdown run on a sneak at the 1, and two interceptions in Week 14 against Denver. The 38 completions were the most in his nine-year career, and the 57 attempts tied a career high.

Fantasy Impact

As expected, Orton threw a lot as the Bills were in catch-up mode in the second half. More garbage time is likely next week at home against Green Bay.
