Marcedes Lewis signs with Packers

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo is reporting the Green Bay Packers and free agent TE Marcedes Lewis have agreed to terms on an undisclosed deal.

Fantasy Impact

After spending his entire 12-year career with the Jaguars, Lewis will join a Packers offense that hasn't had much luck utilizing notable tight end additions in recent years. In fact, Martellus Bennett, Jared Cook and Lance Kendricks have all been flops during their tenure in Green Bay. With Jimmy Graham in line to garner the lion's share of the TE1 reps, especially in passing situations, Lewis' fantasy value will remain at a minimum despite the plus landing spot and QB upgrade.

Marcedes Lewis released by Jaguars

The AP's Mark Long is reporting the Jacksonville Jaguars have released TE Marcedes Lewis on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact

After 12 seasons with the team, the Jaguars cut Lewis, who is not happy with the developments leading up to his release. "I think I deserved a little better than I got," Lewis said Wednesday. "I wish they would have done it sooner." His release is indeed a head-scratcher, especially after the Jaguars picked up Lewis' 2018 option. However, after the team landed Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Niles Paul in free agency, the writing was on the wall for this to happen sooner or later. Lewis could be a good fit with the Ravens or Lions as both teams have a need at the tight end position.

Marcedes Lewis scores in AFC Championship

Marcedes Lewis brought in one of three targets for a four-yard touchdown in the Jaguars' 24-20 loss to the Patriots in the AFC Championship Sunday.

Fantasy Impact

Lewis made his lone grab count in the Jaguars' close loss to New England. Lewis heads into the offseason with poor fantasy prospects for next season as a touchdown-or-bust option.
