Marcedes Lewis
TE - CHI
The Bears have signed veteran TE Marcedes Lewis.
Fantasy Impact
Lewis will enter his 18th season in the NFL, which will be the most ever played by a tight end. The 39-year-old tallied 66 yards and two touchdowns on six reception in 17 games last season with Green Bay. Fantasy managers can leave Lewis off their radar for now.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, TE Marcedes Lewis has received interest from both the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders.
Fantasy Impact
Lewis caught just six passes for 66 yards in 2022 but still played in all 17 games for Green Bay and 41% of the team’s snaps. Even heading into his 18th season, Lewis’ ability as a veteran presence and as an impactful blocker drives interest from a run-heavy team like the Raiders and a Rodgers-connected team like the Jets.
Marcedes Lewis caught both of his targets for 32 receiving yards and one touchdown in the Packers' 26-20 Week 16 win over the Dolphins.
Fantasy Impact
Lewis made the most of a dismal day with a one-yard touchdown strike that tied the game at 10 in the first quarter. The veteran tight end has operated primarily as a blocker this season and should not be rostered despite his ability to occasionally find the end zone.
Marcedes Lewis (rest) didn't participate in Green Bay's practice on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Lewis missed practice on Thursday with a veteran rest day. He found the end zone in Week 5, and he's shown that he still has something left in the tank this season. His rest day is nothing to be concerned over, but Lewis shouldn't be started in any league formats regardless of his availability.
Marcedes Lewis caught a two-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter on his only target of the game.
Fantasy Impact
The target was the first of the season for the veteran tight end. Lewis is almost exclusively a blocker and can be left off fantasy rosters.
