Week 14 Outlook
The Panthers have waived kicker Matthew Wright as roster-cutting season begins, per Tom Pelissero on Twitter.
Wright began his career in Pittsburgh, where in 2020, he did not miss a kick in minimal action. Since then, Wright has bounced around a bit, never finding an actual starting role. Carolina is turning to Eddy Pineiro in 2023 as the team's starting kicker.
Matthew Wright has been elevated to the Chiefs active roster ahead of Saturday's game against the Raiders.
This means Harrison Butker is likely going to be sidelined after he was listed as questionable due to back spasms.
Matthew Wright made all four of his field goals and added an extra point in his team's 19-16 win over the Falcons in Week 13.
Wright made field goals from 46, 46, 48, and 33 yards out in the win. The veteran kicker has filled in admirably for the injured Chris Boswell (groin), making 12 of his 14 kicks in four games for the Steelers. Boswell can be activated ahead of Week 14 against the Ravens, although it remains to be seen whether he's healed up enough to kick.
Matthew Wright made all three of his field goals and added an extra point in a 24-17 win over the Colts in Week 12.
Wright made field goals from 45, 52, and 25 yards out in the Monday night win. The veteran has been steady in place of the injured Chris Boswell (groin), making eight of his 10 field goals over his three games with the Steelers. Boswell has to stay on injured reserve for at least another week, so Wright will kick against the Falcons in Atlanta in Week 13.
Matthew Wright made all three of his field goals and added three extra points in his team's 37-30 loss to the Bengals in Week 11.
Wright can hardly be blamed for the loss as he was perfect in the kicking game. The veteran has now made five of his seven field goals for the Steelers since they added him ahead of Week 10. Wright will be Pittsburgh's kicker for at least two more games while Chris Boswell (groin) is on the injured reserve. He will take on the Colts in Week 12.
