Miami Dolphins hold strong in win over Jaguars

The Miami Dolphins limited the Jaguars to 7 points and 243 total yards in their preseason win. The Fins recorded one fumble recovery, one interception, and three sacks.

Fantasy Impact

Don't read too much into this performance. Preseason defensive outings mean little, as much of the output is determined by reserve players. The Dolphins project to be a low-end unit this year for fantasy purposes. They may be usable in a few weeks, but not much more.

Miami Dolphins solid in loss to Bucs

The Miami Dolphins surrendered 16 points and 309 total yards in their preseason loss to the Buccaneers. The recovered a fumble and forced four sacks.

Fantasy Impact

This was a strong showing for what figures to be a low-end defensive unit in 2019. Preseason DST outputs should be taken lightly, but perhaps the Dolphins will have a few usable weeks. Don't bank on it and feel the need to draft them, though.

Miami Dolphins torched by Falcons in win

The Miami Dolphins allowed 27 points and 337 yards in their preseason win over the Falcons. The defense recorded four sacks but no turnovers.

Fantasy Impact

Miami was never expected to be a strong defensive unit this year, and should be avoided in all but the best of matchups. They simply lack the playmaking ability to generate reliable fantasy points via sacks and turnovers.

Dolphins hire Brian Flores as head coach

The Miami Dolphins announced they are hiring former Patriots DC Brian Flores as their 13th head coach in franchise history.

Fantasy Impact

Most teams hired offensive minded coaches this off-season, but the Dolphins are taking another shot at a Bill Belichick disciple. Flores is just 37 years old and is coming off a Super Bowl run with New England. He'll begin rebuilding the Dolphins in 2019.

Dolphins expected to hire Brian Flores as HC on Monday

The Miami Herald reports the Miami Dolphins will name Patriots DC Brian Flores as their next head coach following the Super Bowl.

Fantasy Impact

The announcement has been delayed for a while now since the Patriots have yet to be eliminated from the playoffs. Flores will be bringing Patriots WRs coach Chad O'Shea with him to be Miami's play caller. It was also reported yesterday that the Dolphins are expected to release Ryan Tannehill, so the new coaching staff will be searching for their quarterback of the future this year.
