Michael Badgley
K - DET
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Tennessee Titans released veteran K Michael Badgley on Sunday despite having no other kickers on their roster.
Fantasy Impact
Badgley was released by the Commanders a week ago after being cut from the Lions in July. Since 2018, Badgley has been on five different rosters and converted a career average of 81.7% of his field goals. With most teams' kicker battles settled at this point, Badgley may have to wait until there's a new opening in the market, though this most recent release isn't promising.
The Commanders announced that they have released veteran kicker Michael Badgley.
Fantasy Impact
Badgley signed with the Commanders just last week after being cut loose by Detroit. Now, he'll return to the free agent market in hopes of competing for a spot on a different team's 53-man roster. The 28-year-old was solid last season, going 33-for-33 on extra points and 24-for-28 on field goals.
Michael Badgley made his lone extra point in a 17-15 preseason win over the Browns on Friday.
Fantasy Impact
Badgley was signed by the Commanders earlier in camp and is locked in a position battle with incumbent Washington kicker Joey Slye. Slye was the only kicker to attempt a field goal in the win, connecting on a 49-yard attempt. Look for Washington to continue to give both kickers chances until they have seen enough to make a final decision.
The Commanders have signed K Michael Badgley Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Badgley was cut by the Lions despite going 20-for-24 on field goal attempts for Detroit last season. Fantasy managers can expect Badgley to compete with Joey Slye in training camp.
According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, free agent K Michael Badgley worked out with the Washington Commanders on Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Joey Slye was the Commanders' kicker in 2022, making 25-of-30 field goals and 24-of-28 extra-point attempts. In 2022, Badgley went 24-for-28 on field goals and was a perfect 30-for-30 on extra-point attempts with the Lions and Bears. Badgley has been a much more efficient point-after kicker than Slye, and the Commanders could either sign Badgley to create an offseason competition or bring him to replace Slye.
