Week 3 Outlook
The Patriots released Mike Nugent on Tuesday.
Nugent’s stint in New England ends after four games. The last straw for Nugent is when he missed two field goals inside 40 yards Sunday against the Browns. The Patriots will look for another replacement for the injured Stephen Gostkowski (hip) in the next few days.
Mike Nugent converted all three of his extra point attempts and two of his four field goals in the Patriots' Week 8 win over the Browns.
Nugent has struggled for the good part of 2019, though he generally gets plenty of opportunity. He's a strong play in most weeks, but the misses can take a toll. Expect fewer points overall moving forward, as the Patriots are entering a tough stretch of their schedule. Nugent is a riskier start in the next several weeks.
Mike Nugent converted all four of his extra point attempts and his lone field goal attempt in the Patriots' Week 7 win over the Jets.
Nugent was spot on in this game after getting off to a rocky start with the Patriots. If Nugent continues to be accurate with his kicks, he'll be a great option at the position, given the strength of the Patriots on offense (and defensive scoring, too). Nugent is a fine option for Week 8 against the Browns.
Mike Nugent converted all five extra point attempts but missed his only field goal attempt in the Patriots' Week 6 win over the Giants.
What could have been a very nice fantasy outing was marred by Nugent's miss. Thus far in his Patriots tenure, Nugent has not been a sniper. However, the Patriots should provide ample kicking opportunity at least for a few more weeks. Nugent is usable but not a firm Top-12 option at the position.
Mike Nugent converted both of his field goal attempts (two short kicks) and three of his four extra point attempts in the Patriots' Week 5 win over the Redskins.
Nugent missed his first kick as a Patriot with a bad extra point try, but nailed five kicks in a row after that. As long as the Patriots keep him around, he should be a solid fantasy option at the position and can be used comfortably next week against the Giants.
