Montez Sweat

The Chicago Bears have acquired Montez Sweat in exchange for a second-round pick.

Sweat has 6.5 sacks in eight games this season and will provide the Bears with a top-level pass rusher. The entire Bears’ defensive line currently has 6.5 sacks, so Sweat will make an immediate impact. The 27-year-old is set to enter free agency after the season, but the Bears will likely make every effort to sign Sweat long-term.

Washington defensive end Montez Sweat has been placed on the reserve/COVID list.

Fantasy Impact

If vaccinated, Sweat will be eligible to be cleared by Sunday if he can return two negative tests 24 hours apart. His status is currently unknown. If Sweat cannot go, he will create another hole on a once-vaunted defensive line that is also without Chase Young. Sweat being inactive would be a big boost for the Dallas Cowboys offense.

Montez Sweat ended Sunday’s 47-16 loss to the Cowboys with five solo tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble.

Sweat puts a cap on his rookie season with 50 tackles, seven sacks, and two forced fumbles. He is worth rostering in super deep dynasty leagues.

Sweat has been off to a slower start than most fantasy owners were hoping for putting up 33 total tackles and 2.5 sacks during the first nine weeks of his rookie season. He is a dynasty league target at this time and can be left on waivers in most leagues.

The Washington Redskins have selected DE Montez Sweat with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft after acquiring the pick from the Indianapolis Colts.

Sweat is an athletic specimen who piled up 22 sacks in 25 games the past two years at Mississippi State. He also ran a 4.41 forty at 260 pounds. There were concerns over a possible heart issue for Sweat but it now appears as if he might've been misdiagnosed. If his health checks out this could wind up being a great pick for Washington.
