New England Patriots have moderate day in playoff loss

The New England Patriots allowed 14 points and 272 yards of offense in their Wild Card round loss to the Tennessee Titans. The defense recorded one sack and one interception.

Fantasy Impact

The best defense in the NFL for the regular season pretty much shut down the passing attack of the Titans but was absolutely annihilated by Derrick Henry and the run game. While the defense only gave up 13 points (plus the extra point on the pick-six, technically), they didn't create much chaos, with only one sack and one turnover. The Patriots should remain a strong defensive unit for 2020, but will surely be over-drafted by fantasy gamers.

New England Patriots defense beat up by Miami Dolphins

The New England Patriots allowed 21 points and 389 yards of offense in their Week 17 loss to the Miami Dolphins. The defense recorded two sacks and no takeaways.

Fantasy Impact

After an excellent run for 2019, the Patriots defense laid a total egg in Week 17 in a must-win game, including Defensive Player of the Year candidate Stephon Gilmore, who was torched by DeVante Parker all game. The Patriots defense remains a strong unit, but the Titans offense is firing on all cylinders, so next week's wild card matchup will be a tough test.

New England Patriots bend but don't break in big win

The New England Patriots allowed 17 points and 268 yards of offense in their Week 16 win over the Buffalo Bills. The defense racked up four sacks of Josh Allen, mostly in big moments, but no turnovers.

Fantasy Impact

The Patriots defense has been the lifeblood of the team all season, so it's surprising to see them come up with no takeaways in this game, but the four sacks came mostly at very opportune moments in the game. The defense continues to be a strong unit and is in a prime spot next week against the Miami Dolphins for leagues still in play.

New England Patriots defense racks up another big day

The New England Patriots allowed 13 points and 315 yards of offense in their Week 15 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The defense racked up four interceptions, including one for a touchdown, and a fumble recovery.

Fantasy Impact

It was another huge outing for the Patriots on defense, which should come as no surprise against one of the league's worst offenses. Fire them up with confidence next week against the Buffalo Bills, who are also a relatively weak offense (and turnover-prone). The Patriots will be a staple of fantasy championship lineups.

New England Patriots solid defensively against Chiefs

The New England Patriots allowed 23 points and 346 yards of offense in their Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The defense recorded one sack, one fumble, and one interception.

Fantasy Impact

The defense could have had a bigger day if a fumble recovery and return was not blown dead. It wasn't a clear score, but there was a chance it would have gone for six. The Patriots can deliver even in tough matchups, even if the stat line didn't boom for this week. Next week against the Bengals is a dream scenario for fantasy playoffs. Expect a strong outing for the Pats on defense.
