Patriots D/ST dominates Rams in Super Bowl 53

The New England Patriots D/ST sacked Jared Goff four times while also forcing an interception as the team beat the Rams 13-3 in the Super Bowl.

Fantasy Impact

This was quite the turnaround for a New England defense that looked downright slow at times this season. They stepped up in the playoffs, however. They held each of the Chiefs and Rams to zero first half points the last two weeks. As usual a Bill Belichick-led team simply got better as the year went on.b

Patriots D/ST sacks Mahomes four times in win

The New England Patriots D/ST registered four sacks in the team’s 37-31 AFC Championship win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Impact

The defense didn’t record and turnovers but consistently made life difficult for Mahomes. The Chiefs offense failed to score in the first half and Mahomes was held to a 52% completion percentage for the game. We’ll see how Bill Belichick will attempt to defend Sean McVay’s Rams two weeks from now.

Patriots pressure Philip Rivers all day in win

The New England Patriots allowed 28 points and 335 yards to the Chargers in their AFC Divisional Round win. They secured one fumble recovery and one interception, as well as two sacks.

Fantasy Impact

The Patriots generated a lot of pressure all day, but ultimately did not turn that pressure into sacks as much as they could have. There's not much to think about next week, as the Patriots travel to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Chiefs. As such, they should be avoided except as a lineup differentiation play in large-pool contests, such as DFS Tournaments. Their expected outcome is not favorable, so avoid them in smaller-field-size contests.

New England Patriots smother Jets offense

The New England Patriots allowed just three points and 239 yards in their Week 17 win over the Jets. They sacked Sam Darnold four times and forced two fumbles, one of which was returned for a touchdown.

Fantasy Impact

The Patriots have been improving as the season goes on, thanks in part to the development of a few young players. This unit could be a strong option come next season depending on what offseason moves are made, but regardless, they will face the Dolphins, Jets, and Bills all twice, which sure doesn't hurt.

Josh McDaniels will interview for Packers HC job

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports Patriots OC Josh McDaniels will interview for the Packers head coaching position on Friday.

Fantasy Impact

New England has a bye in the first round of the playoffs so McDaniels is free this week. He almost left for the Colts last off-season but pulled out at the last minute. If the Packers are interested it might be tough for McDaniels to turn away from coaching Aaron Rodgers.
