Pierre Strong Jr.
RB - CLE
Week 3 Outlook
Pierre Strong Jr. has been traded from the New England Patriots to the Cleveland Browns.
Strong was a fourth-round pick for the Patriots just a season ago, but now they're shipping him off to Cleveland in exchange for some tackle depth in Tyrone Wheatley Jr. Cleveland likely wants him to play a depth role, especially since backup Jerome Ford is dealing with an injury, so the second-year RB is not likely to get a lot of work this year. This does, however, add some assurance to Nick Chubb's value for this season. Some fantasy managers feared the team would bring in a big-name back to solidify the room, but this is a small addition and won't have any kind of a negative impact on Chubb.
Pierre Strong Jr. tallied 21 rushing yards on six attempts and caught all three of his targets for 12 yards in a loss to Houston.
Strong is competing for a backup role and is trying to show the Patriots’ coaching staff that there is no need to bring in another veteran. With the departure of Damien Harris, Strong, Kevin Harris, or J.J. Taylor will need to step up in 2023 to take some of the load off Rhamondre Stevenson.
Pierre Strong Jr. hauled in each of his two targets for a total of 10 yards during Sunday's loss to the Bengals.
While Strong saw fewer offensive opportunities on Saturday, he did get more involved on special teams, returning two kickoffs for a total of 46 yards. Strong's role on offense will likely shrink even more when Damien Harris (thigh) returns, perhaps as soon a next week.
Pierre Strong Jr. saw an expanded role in Week 15 with Damien Harris (thigh) sidelined. The rookie rushed four times for 25 yards and also hauled in all three of his targets for an additional 12 yards through the air.
Strong's outing was solid and likely met expectations for any fantasy managers desperate enough to start him this week. He'll return to being a non-factor as soon as Harris returns, perhaps as early as Week 16 versus Cincinnati.
Pierre Strong Jr. tallied 70 rushing yards and one touchdown on five carries and caught both of his targets for 20 yards in a win over Arizona Monday.
Strong broke off a 44 yard run to account for most of his rushing total in relief of the injured Rhamondre Stevenson. If Stevenson is going to miss time, Strong could be a solid pickup if Damien Harris and Stevenson are unavailable against the Raiders in Week 15.
