WR - PHI - IR
Week 3 Outlook
Eagles rookie wide receiver Quez Watkins was placed on injured reserve on Sunday, the team announced on Twitter.
Watkins has been limited for the past week with an upper-body injury, and he will now have to miss at least the first three weeks of the season. Watkins had been impressing early in training camp, flashing his speed and playmaking ability, but he is buried on a depth chart that already includes DeSean Jackson, Jalen Reagor, J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, Greg Ward, John Hightower, and, whenever he is healthy, Alshon Jeffery.
Eagles' WR Quez Watkins is considered day-to-day after being added to the injury report with an upper body injury.
It's unclear what kind of injury he sustained but it's encouraging that he is being listed as day-to-day, which could be a sign that it's nothing major. Still, the sixth-round rookie will want to get back on the field as soon as possible in order to carve out a role in this improved Eagles' receiving core.
Eagles rookie wide receiver Quez Watkins is drawing high praise from coaches and from teammates in the early part of training camp, according to reports.
Watkins has been a name seen regularly on training camp reports, and they have usually been mentioning a player who is impressing with his speed and route-running. He still has a long way to go before earning a roster spot and playing time, especially after being drafted in the sixth round, but he is trending in the right direction with Week 1 less than a month away.
The Philadelphia Eagles have signed sixth-round pick WR Quez Watkins out of Southern Mississippi to a rookie contract.
Watkins is a speedster, running a 4.36 forty at 6-foot-2. He will likely be fighting for a roster spot during training camp, but his wheels make him a potential special teamer in 2020. Keep an eye on Watkins as he learns from DeSean Jackson, a player who he has drawn comparisons to due to his speed and quickness.
The Philadelphia Eagles have selected wide receiver Quez Watkins with the No. 200 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Watkins joins Jalen Reagor, John Hightower and Marquise Goodwin as another WR added to the Philadelphia roster this weekend. And you guessed it, another speedster for the Eagles, as the Southern Miss product ran the 2nd fastest 40-time at the combine with a 4.35. The Eagles are quickly becoming one of the fastest offenses in the league, and suddenly giving Carson Wentz all sorts of options to work with.
