DE - DAL
Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory is active for the team's Week 7 matchup against the Washington Football Team. Gregory missed the first six weeks of the season due to a suspension and has not played in the NFL since 2018.
The Dallas defense needs all the help they can get right now as they have been one of the worst units in the NFL through the first six weeks of the season. It's unclear how much Gregory will contribute, especially given the fact that he hasn't played in the NFL in more than a year, but he figures to be at least a situational pass rusher to start.
The Cowboys activated DL Randy Gregory from the Commissioner’s List.
Gregory is eligible to play in Week 7 against Washington. It’s totally up in the air how much he has left in the tank, but Dallas’ dreadful defense could use any sort of boost right now.
Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory is taking part in drills on Wednesday with an eye on being ready for October 25th against Washington.
Gregory taking the field could provide a big boost to a struggling Cowboys defense. The majority of the Cowboys struggles have been in the secondary, but one way to disrupt a passing game is to generate more pressures. Dallas will likely rush him back if he proves to be close to the player he has been in the past.
Defensive end Randy Gregory has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Cowboys that will keep him in Dallas through the 2021 season.
Gregory was recently reinstated by the NFL from his latest suspension and will miss the team's first six games. The Cowboys have never shied away from players with character concerns and have used this opportunity to sign their former second-round pick to a team-friendly deal for next season. Gregory has flashed potential in the past, recording six sacks in 14 games in 2018.
Cowboys DE Randy Gregory has been conditionally reinstated by the NFL.
Gregory won’t be able to practice until October 5 and he’ll also serve a six-game suspension prior to being able to re-join the team. The former second-round draft choice has only played a full season once in his career, playing 14 games in 2018. He had six sacks that season, so hopefully he can get back to being a force on the Cowboys defensive line come Week 7 this season.
