Rashean Mathis stays with Lions on a two-year deal

Cornerback Rashean Mathis has re-signed with the Detroit Lions on a two-year deal worth $3.5 million.

Fantasy Impact

Mathis is coming off one of his best seasons as a pro. The soon to be 35-year-old was ranked 12th among corners by Pro Football Focus, in 2014. In addition to being a stalwart in the Lions secondary, the 12-year veteran has contributed heavily to the development of fellow corner Darius Slay, who is expected to step in to a number one role next season. There had been interest by both sides on reuniting, however Mathis was waiting for a multi-year deal from Detroit. After receiving attention from a number of other teams during Free Agency, the Lions were finally persuaded to give the stellar veteran the contract he desired and deserved.
