Week 17 Outlook
Ricardo Allen finished Sunday’s win over the Carolina Panthers with six total tackles and one interception.
Allen is third on the team in total tackles with 54 through Week 11. He has an excellent chance to add another interception in Weeks 12 and 17 as the Falcons take on the Buccaneers.
Atlanta Falcons safety Ricardo Allen has a torn Achilles and is done for the year per report.
It is not only a blow to the Atlanta Falcons, but also to IDP owners who managed to own Allen while Keanu Neal (knee) is out. Jordan Richards will be a player that Allen and Neals IDP owners will likely want to get on the radar as a likely replacement. And second-year standout Damontae Kazee is firmly in place for the rest of the season.
The Atlanta Falcons will hold out Ricardo Allen (undisclosed) versus Jacksonville in the third pre-season contest Saturday. It is an undisclosed injury at this point, so it is unlikely that the injury is a major concern until they give some sort of update.
Free safeties Ron Parker and trending Damontae Kazee will receive more playing time Saturday. IDP owners should monitor Allen's situation and both Kazee and Parker in case the undisclosed injury carries over into the regular season contests.
Via an Adam Schefter at ESPN report, Ricardo Allen and the Atlanta Falcons have agreed to a three year $19.5 million contract extension Monday.
The extension is likely locking Allen in as a tier two level IDP option for the next few years. This also puts into question what former Kanas City Chiefs safety Ron Parker's future role will be with Atlanta. He signed this off-season with Atlanta and now is likely third on the depth chart leaving little appeal in IDP production unless Allen or Keanu Neal go down with an injury.
