The Patriots agreed to terms on a contract with free agent LB Robert Spillane.

Spillane made 34 starts across the past two seasons for the Raiders. He joins New England with its new coaching staff under Mike Vrabel.

With the tender, Spillane will be set to make $2.433 million in 2022. He can sign with another team but only if the Steelers allow it. The 26-year-old has been an important special teams player and backup defensive help in his previous three seasons with the team.

Spillane will be out through Week 16, at minimum. He has been filling in for Devin Bush (ACL) and is yet another injury Pittsburgh's defense will have to overcome this year. Bud Dupree has also recently been lost for the year.
