Week 5 Outlook
Rodney McLeod and the Colts are finalizing a deal, according to Ian Rapoport.
Fantasy Impact
The addition of McLeod likely removes the Colts from the Tyrann Mathieu sweepstakes, as McLeod will match up opposite Khari Willis in the Indianapolis secondary. The former Eagle will join a defense that features Darius Leonard and DeForest Buckner, among others.
Safety Rodney McLeod and the Philadelphia Eagles agreed to a two-year contract, the team announced on Tuesday. NFL insider Ian Rapoport adds that the deal is worth $12 million over two years.
Fantasy Impact
With the Eagles holding a contract option on Malcolm Jenkins while McLeod was hitting free agency, many assumed that Jenkins would return and McLeod would leave. However, the team announced earlier on Tuesday that they had re-signed cornerback Jalen Mills, who would be moving to safety, and would not be picking up the option on Jenkins. That left the door open for McLeod to return, and the Eagles are apparently set to open up training camp with Mills and McLeod as their two starting safeties.
Rodney McLeod ended Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks with four tackles, one sack, an interception, and a forced fumble.
Fantasy Impact
McLeod did all he could but the Eagles needed more magic to get past Seattle. McLeod has 55 total tackles through Week 12 and should be viewed as a deeper IDP target.
Rodney McLeod racked up seven total tackles (five solo) during Sunday’s 24-20 loss to the Falcons.
Fantasy Impact
McLeod only played in three games during the 2018 campaign during which he totaled 10 tackles. He is widely owned and should probably stay that way for the time being. Through two games this year, McLeod has 10 total tackles (five solo).
Eagles safety Rodney McLeod reportedly underwent surgery Thursday morning for a torn MCL. He will not be able to return this season.
Fantasy Impact
McLeod sustained the injury in his right knee midway through the third quarter of Sunday’s 20-16 win over the Colts. Cornerback Jalen Mills hit the safety’s knee while the two teamed up on a tackle of running back Nyheim Hines. Veteran Corey Graham will start in place of McLeod.
