Ryan Finley released by the Houston Texans

Former Houston Texans QB Ryan Finley has been released to waivers by the team, per Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Impact

Finley was dealt to the Texans during a late-round pick swap in the 2021 NFL draft. This occurred prior to the team opting to sign free-agent QB Jeff Driskel last week, resulting in a loaded quarterback depth chart including third-round draft pick Davis Mills out of Stanford and veteran Tyrod Taylor. With Finley being released to waivers, the quarterback room in Houston becomes less contested. Rumors of Deshaun Watson continuing to demand a trade could result in Driskel, Taylor, or Mills competing for QB1 on a roster with quite a few needs to fill. Finley earned four career starts across two seasons for the Bengals and will look to provide his services as a team's second or third-string option.

Ryan Finley released by Bengals

Ryan Finley is being released by the Bengals, according to Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Impact

Finley appeared in five games last season, starting in one. He completed 53.1% of his passes for 164 yards, posting a 1:2 TD-To-Interception ratio.

Ryan Finley leads Bengals to upset win

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ryan Finley completed 7-of-13 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown in a 27-17 win over the Steelers in Week 15.

Fantasy Impact

Finley added a touchdown and 47 rushing yards on 10 carries in the surprise win. The young signal-caller didn't have a huge game but he kept the Steelers honest with his legs. His 23-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter essentially dashed any hopes for a Pittsburgh comeback. It will be either Finley or Brandon Allen under center in Week 16 against the Texans.

Ryan Finley will start Week 15 against the Steelers

Bengals’ QB Ryan Finley will start in Monday’s Week 15 contest against the Steelers.

Fantasy Impact

QB Brandon Allen (knee) was ruled out for Monday Night Football, per Bengals’ HC Zac Taylor. Finley took first-team reps throughout the week and will draw the start in Week 15’s matchup against the Steelers. He completed 10-of-19 passes for 75 yards and two interceptions across four appearances in 2020. Fantasy managers should steer clear from Finley and find another QB streamer off the waiver wire.

Ryan Finley passes for 40 yards

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ryan Finley completed 6-of-7 passes for 40 yards in a 19-7 loss to Miami in Week 13.

Fantasy Impact

Finley entered the game after starter Brandon Allen injured his chest and did not return. Finley looked better than he did the last time he played but he is a low-upside option in fantasy. The Bengals face the Cowboys at home in Week 14. Finley will presumably be the starter if Allen can't go.
