2024 Outlook
Availability
Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive lineman Ryan Jensen announced on Friday, Feb. 2 that he is retiring from the NFL, per his Instagram.
Fantasy Impact
Jensen, 32, played eight seasons in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens (four) and Buccaneers (five). He missed the entire 2022 and 2023 regular seasons as he battled a knee injury right after hitting his prime moments as a pro -- including a Super Bowl win and his first Pro Bowl nod. Jensen started 90 career games, playing in 100, and appeared in his last game in the 2022 postseason game against the Dallas Cowboys, Tom Brady's last NFL game.
Unfortunately, Ryan Jensen will be watching all of the 2023 season from the sideline on IR due to a knee injury.
Fantasy Impact
In their Super Bowl run in 2020 and their playoff run in 2021, Jensen was a key part of the Buccanneers' offense. He plays a vital role not only in this offense but also in this team as a veteran leader. The 32-year-old is still a captain of the Bucs' team and will definitely be missed on the offensive line this year.
The Buccaneers activated Ryan Jensen from the injured reserve ahead of Monday's Wild Card game against the Cowboys.
Fantasy Impact
Jensen suffered his knee injury all the way back in training camp and has been on IR ever since. He was able to practice with the first-team last week and is set to make his season debut in the playoffs. He'll be a huge upgrade for the Tampa Bay offensive line against a strong Cowboys pass rush.
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles told reporters that Ryan Jensen "won't be available anytime soon" after being carted off the field with a knee injury during Thursday's training camp session.
Fantasy Impact
Ryan Jensen appeared to get rolled up on by a fellow offensive lineman during Thursday's practice, causing him to go down with a serious knee injury. The Buccaneers could look to add a veteran free agent such as J.C. Tretter to the roster, but for now will turn to second year player Robert Hainsey to fill in for the Pro Bowl center.
Ryan Jensen was carted off the field Thursday after going down with an apparent left leg injury.
Fantasy Impact
Losing Ryan Jensen would be devastating for a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that has Super Bowl hopes for the 2022 season. Jensen is known as one of the best centers in the NFL and has started every game for the Buccaneers since joining the squad in 2018.
