Week 17 Outlook
The San Francisco D/ST had two sacks, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and a touchdown in Week 12's win over the Rams.
The San Francisco D/ST continues to be a formidable one this season, even with the loss of some key players to injury. Richard Sherman's return has been a big boost to a D/ST that ranks inside the top-12 in fantasy scoring this year. With matchups against the Football Team and Cowboys in the fantasy playoffs, they should remain toward the top and must be started.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the 49ers shut down their facility Wednesday due to a positive COVID-19 test.
It’s concerning considering the team is supposed to play tomorrow night (Thursday) against the Packers. We’ll have to wait and see what the league has to say about this game being played this week.
The 49ers' D/ST forced one turnover and held the Rams' dynamic offense to only 16 points during their 24-16 win in Week 6.
This was a disappointing showing for fantasy managers, as the 49ers' played a better real life game than in fantasy. Although, they only forced one turnover and failed to sack Jared Goff once, they rarely allowed a Rams' receiver to find any sort of breathing room outside of Josh Reynolds 40-yard touchdown late in the game. This banged up 49ers' defense projects to be a middling option against the Patriots in Week 7.
San Fransisco 49ers' D/ST recorded three turnovers while compiling three sacks during Sunday night's Week 4 loss to the Eagles.
The 49ers' D/ST showed signs of dominance throughout the night, but otherwise are too banged up to be considered a top option at the moment. They should, however, be in lineups in Week 5 against the 1-3 Dolphins. It is worth noting that their recently signed pass-rusher Ziggy Ansah suffered an arm injury that the team fears is a biceps tear. That would certainly knock him out for the season and would be yet another blow to this 49ers' defense.
The San Francisco 49ers D/ST recorded an interception and recovered two fumbles in the team's Week 3 win over the New York Giants.
San Francisco also registered two sacks. The team has been hit hard by injuries, but they still took advantage of a plus matchup. They have another one in Week 4 as they'll square off with the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.
