San Francisco 49ers
TWR - SF
This Week Outlook
The 49ers D/ST had no answer for Josh Allen and the Bills' passing game as they allowed 449 total yards of offense and four touchdowns as the Bills' racked up 34 points. They did force one turnover and compiled one sack.
It was a night to forget for this defense as they simply allowed Josh Allen to do whatever he wanted all night long. The lone turnover forced by the defense was actually a broken hand-off between Allen and RB Zach Moss, so it's not like the defense did anything to force it. There should be better days for this 49ers' defense as a Week 14 matchup against the Washington Football Team presents a nice bounce-back opportunity.
The 49ers D/ST came away with three sacks and forced two turnovers vs. the Saints dynamic offense but surrendered 27 points during their Week 10 loss.
It was a strange game from start to finish as Saints put up less yardage than the 49ers' but outscored them by two touchdowns. Drew Brees also exited at halftime with an injury so the Jameis Winston was called upon to lead the Saints offense. Still, the many injuries currently plaguing the 49ers limits the upside of the defense. They should remain on waivers as a matchup against the Rams awaits following their Week 11 bye.
The 49ers D/ST stood no chance against the Aaron Rodgers-led Packer offense on Thursday. They were only able to record one sack and did not force any turnovers.
They also surrendered 405 total yards of offense to Green Bay while allowing Rodgers and Davante Adams to connect 10 times for 173 yards and a touchdown. With all of the major injuries plaguing this defense, it's unfair to expect elite showings from them. You can find better streaming options in Week 10.
The 49ers D/ST had no answer for Russell Wilson on Sunday and were only able to come away with two sacks.
This matchup had the word avoid written all over it as Russell Wilson and the Seahawks offense has been one of the most prolific in the league this season. Unsurprisingly, they had their way with this banged up 49ers' defense and have another tough matchup against the Packers waiting for them in Week 9.
The 49ers D/ST picked off the Patriots four times and came away with two sacks while only giving up six points in Week 7.
Despite missing multiple key starters once again, the 49ers D/ST continues to impress and has been a solid starting option in fantasy. Expectations should be tempered in Week 8, however, as Russell Wilson and the Seahawks boast one of the more impressive offenses in the NFL this season.
