Spencer Ware leads Chiefs backfield in snaps

Kansas City Chiefs running back Spencer Ware took his five Week 14 snaps for 11 rushing yards. He hauled in one of his two targets for nine yards receiving.

Fantasy Impact

Ware stunningly led the Kansas City Chiefs in snaps in Week 14. He saw 40 percent of the snaps compared to 31 percent for LeSean McCoy, and 27 percent for Darwin Thompson. Ware saw more carries than Darwin Thompson despite just signing with the team last week, and could continue to a major drain on the fantasy value of one of Week 13’s hottest pickups. Ware could continue to play a large role in this offense as long as Damien and Darrel Williams are sidelined. He should be considered a mid priority waiver wire claim for those in deeper leagues.

Spencer Ware signed by Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs signed running back Spencer Ware.

Fantasy Impact

The Chiefs have health issues at running back with both Damien and Darrel Williams banged up at the moment. Ware won't get much run behind LeSean McCoy and Darwin Thompson this weekend.

Spencer Ware scheduled to work out for the Cardinals

Spencer Ware will work out with the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact

Ware will join fellow free-agent running back Jay Ayaji and workout with the Cardinals on Tuesday. Ware appears to be fully recovered from the ankle surgery he underwent in the preseason. The Cardinals are looking to add insurance with David Johnson nursing an ankle injury as of late.

Spencer Ware moved to reserve/ PUP list

NFL Insider Adam Caplan is reporting the Colts have moved RB Spencer Ware (knee) to the reserve/ PUP list.

Fantasy Impact

Ware opened camp on the active/ PUP list, which means his new designation will cause him to miss the first six games of the regular season at a minimum. With Ware out, the Colts could look to bring back Jay Ajayi, who visited with the team in the midst of free agency and is now reportedly healthy and cleared. The Colts also had a visit with Mike Gillislee recently.

Spencer Ware starts camp on the PUP list

The Colts will place Spencer Ware on the PUP list Wednesday with an unspecified muscle injury that's expected to keep him out of practice for two weeks, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.

Fantasy Impact

Ware signed a one year deal in the offseason and is competing for a backup job at running back. There is some competition so Ware will need to get on the field soon if he wants to make the team.
