Bruce Arians has announced his retirement from coaching in the NFL. Todd Bowles has agreed to a 5-year contract to become the Buccaneers new head coach.
Todd Bowles had his final two years voided from his defensive coordinator contract, a position he has occupied for the past three seasons in Tampa. Bowles has accumulated a 26-41 head coaching record in five season as a HC, but has never coached a team with this much talent on both sides of the ball. The Buccaneers are expected to be a top-ranked team again this coming season, while Arians will make the move to the front-office in Tampa Bay.
According to the Pewter Report in which covers all things Buccaneers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had been continually meeting with WRs and TEs at the combine this week.
With Chris Godwin and Rob Gronkowski headed towards free agency and Antonio Brown being exiled from the team, the reported rumor that the Bucs are interviewing with several high-end WRs and TEs at the combine makes sense. On Tuesday, reports dropped that the team and Chris Godwin were close in their contract negotiations and could still use the franchise tag if things fall through. It's unclear the individual prospects the team meet with.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense falls flat in loss to Rams adding up two sacks, three fumbles forced including one recovery during a 30-27 loss to the Rams.
The Bucs defense was mostly miserable all day until about the fourth quarter when the defense recovered one fumble and forced one other. They managed only two sacks and allowed 30 points in the loss. Despite some key injuries all year long, they remained an outstanding unit and should look to return to that next season.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers dominate the Eagles on Wild Card Weekend to the score of 31-15, the defense tallied two sacks and two interceptions in a huge win.
The Buccaneers' defense gave the Eagles all they could handle as they tallied two interceptions and two sacks in the win. Although the Eagles scored 15 points, the outcome was largely decided as the Bucs ran a run-heavy, burning-the-clock style of offense while playing a conservative style of defense in the second half. The Bucs get back to work next week against either the Rams or the Cardinals.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers D/ST surrendered 374 total yards and 24 points in Sunday's Week 17 win over the Jets.
The Buccaneers' D/ST were gashed by the Jets early, but they held on in the second half while Tom Brady led the offense up and down the field, ultimately getting the win. Tampa's defense must get it together if they want to make a playoff run.
