Week 7 Outlook
The Saints have placed running back Tony Jones Jr. (ankle) on injured reserve. He will miss at least three weeks. In a corresponding move, Devino Ozigbo was promoted to the active roster while Ryquell Armstead joined New Orleans' practice squad.
Jones suffered the injury on Sunday and can't return Week 8 at the earliest. Latavius Murray's release exposed Jones as a valuable handcuff behind Alvin Kamara, but the second-year back was never given such an opportunity to showcase himself before suffering the ankle injury.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports Saints RB Tony Jones Jr. is expected to be sidelined 3-4 weeks with an ankle injury.
Jones can be dropped in most redraft fantasy leagues since he was only a high-end handcuff anyway. The Saints worked out Lamar Miller, Duke Johnson, Brian Hill, Ito Smith and Ryquell Armstead on Tuesday.
Saints RB Tony Jones Jr. rushed two times for 12 yards and caught both of his targets for 10 yards in Sunday's Week 3 win over the Patriots.
Jones saw four scoreless touches. Jones will likely remain off the fantasy radar as long as they are playing this style of football, which is a more slow-paced and defensive game.
Saints RB Tony Jones rushed three times for seven yards in Sunday's Week 2 loss to the Panthers.
Jones had 12 touches in the season opener but only went for seven yards on three carries in Sunday's loss. He was not targeted as a receiver. Jones is off the radar moving forward.
Saints RB Tony Jones had 11 rushes for 50 yards in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Packers.
Jones was busy, handling 12 touches. However, this game was so far out of reach where Alvin Kamara didn't need the wear and tear late in the game. Jones could still see 10+ touches a game if they continue to feature the run more so than in the past, but until we see this play out, Jones can not be trusted in fantasy with Kamara healthy.
