Travis Etienne Jr.
RB - JAC
Week 4 Outlook
Travis Etienne Jr. rushed for 45 yards on 13 carries and caught 3-of-3 targets for an additional 30 yards in Jacksonville’s 38-10 win over the Chargers in Week 3.
Etienne has seen his carries increase each week and he continues to see consistent work in the passing game as well. He and Robinson continue to split work in a backfield that was expected to be his to lead early on. James Robinson has been the fantasy value back early but Etienne continues to carve out his role week by week. Fantasy managers who expected more shouldn’t give up on the Clemson-product just yet.
Travis Etienne Jr. rushed for 20 yards on nine carries and caught 3-of-3 targets for 33 yards in Jacksonville’s 24-0 win against the Colts in Week 2.
Etienne once again took a backseat to James Robinson in both touches and production. Fantasy managers who took Etienne expecting him to be the lead back in Jacksonville have been disappointed by James Robinson’s seemingly miraculous recovery from a torn Achilles. Etienne should have more opportunities as the season goes on but managers may want to find other options for the time being.
Travis Etienne Jr. rushed for 47 yards on four carries and caught 2-of-4 targets for 18 yards in Jacksonville’s 28-22 loss to the Commanders in Week 1.
Etienne made his long awaited NFL debut in Week 1 against Washington and basically did what he did while he was injured last year; ceded all his work to James Robinson. Robinson is less than nine months removed from a torn Achilles and somehow appears to have retaken over the backfield from Etienne, out-touching him 12-to-6. Etienne managers were not happy when they heard the news that Robinson would be active in Week 1 and their fears appear to be justified. Etienne was likely drafted as an RB1 or RB2 so managers likely need to roll with him for another week or so before making a decision on the second year back, who is still loaded with potential and coming off his own Lisfranc injury.
Travis Etienne Jr. did not suit up for Jacksonville's preseason finale against Atlanta on Saturday.
Travis Etienne Jr. will finally get to start his NFL career in Week 1 against the Commanders after missing all of last year with a Lisfranc injury. Etienne will look to pick where he left off as Lawrence’s backfield mate at Clemson. Etienne is supposed to be heavily featured in the passing game this season just as he was in college. Etienne figures to be the lead back to start in Jacksonville, even if James Robinson (Achilles) is ready for Week 1. Draft him accordingly.
Travis Etienne Jr. is not scheduled to play in Saturday’s preseason matchup with Atlanta.
Etienne carried the ball eight times for 29 yards in the Jaguars preseason loss to the Steelers. The 23-year-old missed all of his rookie season with a Lisfranc injury but has shown in the preseason that he is ready to be a focal point of the Jaguars’ offense in 2022. Etienne currently sits at RB19 in PPR ADP, according to FantasyPros.
