Troymain Pope sees 12 touches in win for Chargers

Troymaine Pope rushed 10 times for 20 yards and had two receptions for 14 yards in the Chargers' 30-10 win over the Dolphins Sunday. He was targeted twice.

Fantasy Impact

Pope handled 12 touches with Justin Jackson (calf) out and Melvin Gordon active but not playing Sunday. He has little fantasy appeal going forward with Gordon expected to log touches next week.

Troymaine Pope gets waived on Sunday

Troymaine Pope was waived by the Texans on Sunday according to their website.

Fantasy Impact

It looked like Pope had made the team but the Texans decided to go in a different direction and waived the 24-year-old running back to make room for Buddy Howell who they got on waivers. Pope may hook up with another team but won't have fantasy value.

Troymaine Pope sees action in second preseason game

Troymaine Pope had one carry for two yards and caught two of four targets for 10 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the 49ers. He also had one kickoff return for 25 yards.

Fantasy Impact

Pope made a good impression in the first preseason game when he rushed for 65 yards. The 24-year-old RB did not make such an impact on Saturday. Pope will need to have a couple of big games in the two remaining exhibition contests to make it on the Texans roster.

Troymaine Pope claimed by Jets

Troymaine Pope didn't make the final cut in Seattle, but he was claimed off waivers by the Jets on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact

The undrafted rookie led the Seahawks in rushing in the preseason with 162 yards on 24 carries, and likely would have joined Seattle's practice squad had he gone unclaimed. He joins another crowded depth chart in New York, but the Jets must have liked what they saw from Pope in the preseason to give him a roster spot. Until his role (if any) reveals itself, keep him on your league's waiver wire.

Troymaine Pope leads Seahawks in rushing, makes case for roster spot

Troymaine Pope led the Seahawks with 52 yards on eight carries and a touchdown in Seattle's 23-21 victory over Oakland on Thursday. He also caught a pass for 13 yards, returned three kickoffs for 103 yards, and made a tackle on special teams.

Fantasy Impact

Pope, an undrafted rookie out of Jacksonville State who nearly took a job at a car factory before getting a call from the Seahawks, has been the feel-good story of training camp. He started the preseason off with a bang by scoring the game-winning two-point conversion against Kansas City, and finished as Seattle's leading rusher with 162 yards on 24 carries (6.75 YPC). Granted, his production came against backups, but his special teams versatility just might make the Seahawks decide to keep him around. He could be a deep sleeper to keep an eye on if Seattle cuts him and he gets claimed by a team with an unsettled situation at running back.
