Tyler Kroft's strong spring has him in the mix as Jets starting tight end

Brian Costello of The New York Post suggests that a surprising strong spring has Tyler Kroft in the mix for the Jets starting tight end gig this year.

Fantasy Impact

"Kroft has been one of the bigger surprises of the spring," Costello said. "He has seen a lot of time with the starting unit and...could beat out Chris Herndon for the job if Herndon does not shake out of the funk he was in last year." The hype has been around Herndon in recent years, but it has not really panned into much production on the field. Kroft will have the opportunity to take the lead tight end role for this new look Jets offense if he continues to impress in training camp.

Tyler Kroft agrees to a one-year deal with the New York Jets

Former Buffalo Bills TE Tyler Kroft has agreed to a one-year contract with the New York Jets, per Rich Cimini.

Fantasy Impact

Kroft will stay within the AFC East and give Jets QB Sam Darnold a new weapon within the offense alongside WR Corey Davis. The seventh-year tight end out of Rutgers had 12 receptions for 119 yards and three touchdowns across 10 games for the Bills in 2020. Kroft becomes a valuable red-zone target for the Jets, as his 6'6 250-pound frame is difficult to cover in tight spaces. He flashed his upside with the Bengals in 2017, totaling 42 receptions for 404 yards and seven touchdowns. In a new offensive system without the influence of previous Jets head coach Adam Gase, Kroft could become the team's TE1 over the oft-injured Chris Herndon in 2021.

Tyler Kroft activated from reserve/COVID-19 list

The Bills activated TE Tyler Kroft from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Fantasy Impact

Kroft had a false positive that kept him out of Week 17. This was his second false positive of the year. He'll be back for the Bills' Wild Card Weekend game against the Colts on Saturday afternoon.

Tyler Kroft placed on reserve/COVID-19 list

The Bills placed TE Tyler Kroft on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Fantasy Impact

Kroft tested positive for COVID-19 and will be ineligible to play in Week 17 against the Dolphins. Dawson Knox should see an uptick in usage in his absence.

Tyler Kroft inactive for Week 14

Bills TE Tyler Kroft is not active against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14.

Fantasy Impact

TE Dawson Knox will see an uptick in snaps with Kroft a healthy scratch. Kroft scored the game-winning TD last season against the Steelers, but with Knox back, he'll need an injury to dress in Week 15.
