Uchenna Nwosu to undergo season-ending surgery on torn pec

Seahawks’ LB Uchenna Nwosu will undergo season-ending surgery on his torn pectoral.

Fantasy Impact

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll speculated this as a possibility and Schefter confirmed it. It's a blow to the defense for Seattle, especially against the run. They could look to the trade market or potentially free agency with a potential reunion with Frank Clark.

Uchenna Nwosu signs three-year extension with Seattle

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Seattle Seahawks are signing edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu to a three-year extension worth up to $59 million with $32 million guaranteed.

Fantasy Impact

The 2018 second-round pick by the Chargers had a breakout season in 2022 with Seattle when he racked up 9.5 sacks and 66 tackles, with 12 going for a loss. He led the Seahawks in quarterback knockdowns, sacks and pressures, helping bolster what was an otherwise-disappointing defensive front. With Seattle investing in their front seven this offseason, they lock up Nwosu and his production going forward.

Uchenna Nwosu agrees to two-year deal with Seahawks

Per Adam Schefter, linebacker Uchenna Nwosu has agreed to a two-year, $20 million deal, including $10.5 million guaranteed with the Seahawks.

Fantasy Impact

Seattle adds a young and talented linebacker in Nwosu after releasing Bobby Wagner. The 25-year-old USC product recorded one interception, two forced fumbles, five sacks, and eight tackles for loss in 2021 which were all career bests. The versatile linebacker should see a workhorse role for a Seahawks defense that is desperate for some playmakers.

Uchenna Nwosu goes to Chargers at pick 48

With the 48th pick in the NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers selected USC linebacker Uchenna Nwosu.

Fantasy Impact

Nwosu was an edge linebacker in college but might end up kicking inside of playing as more of a traditional Will or Sam linebacker role in the pros. He is a skilled pass rusher, however, so it would not be surprising to see the Chargers find creative ways for him to get after the quarterback.
