QB - DAL
Week 6 Outlook
The Cowboys claimed quarterback Will Grier off waivers.
Grier was previously released by Carolina. He adds insurance to the Cowboys quarterback room.
The Panthers released QB Will Grier.
Grier struggled mightily in limited action last season. Former XFL star P.J. Walker will serve as Carolina's backup entering the year.
Panthers QB Will Grier completed 11-of-14 passes for 144 yards, including one carry for two yards in Saturday's preseason defeat to Baltimore.
Grier had a stellar outing despite the 17-point loss to the Ravens. Up until tonight, it appeared as if P.J. Walker had the second-string job locked up, yet he went just 1-of-8 for eight yards after taking over for Grier in the third frame. Whoever performs better in the preseason finale versus Pittsburgh may ultimately enter the season as the No. 2 QB. Regardless, the Panthers are expected to lean heavily on Christian McCaffrey, in what should be another long year in their rebuild phase.
Panthers QB Will Grier completed 1-of-8 passes for four yards and an interception in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Saints.
Grier only completed 1-of-8 passes before leaving the game with his foot injury. It is safe to say that he is not the future of the Carolina quarterback position despite his limited resume, which is atrocious. Look for the Panthers to either draft a quarterback or bring one in via free agency this offseason while moving on from Cam Newton if the price is right.
Panthers QB Will Grier completed 27-of-44 passes for 224 yards and three interceptions in Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Colts.
Grier was terrible in his first career NFL start. He made Kyle Allen look good. Still, since the Panthers are in quarterback evaluation mode for the offseason, expect Grier to be under center in Week 17 against the Saints.
