Free agent defensive end Yannick Ngakoue has agreed to a two-year, $26 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, per Adam Schefter.
Ngakoue helps address an immediate pass rushing need in Las Vegas. He's coming off an eight sack season in 2020 when he suited up for both the Vikings and the Ravens. He's tallied 45.5 sacks over his five-year career, the majority of which were spent with the Jaguars. Moving over to the Raiders will reunite the soon to be 26-year-old with Gus Bradley, LV's current defensive coordinator and former head coach in Jacksonville.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports the Raiders are close to an agreement with former Ravens DL Yannick Ngakoue.
This would be a killer for Baltimore after they already lost pass rusher Matt Judon to the Patriots earlier today. We'll wait and see if terms of an agreement come out shortly.
The Minnesota Vikings are trading DE Yannick Ngakoue to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a 2021 third-round pick and a 2022 conditional fifth-round pick.
The Vikings seem to be giving up on the season with a record of 1-5 through six weeks. They traded for Ngakoue at the beginning of the season in hopes of having him be a key piece of their defensive front. On the other hand, the Ravens tried to pry Ngakoue away from the Jaguars before the Vikings stepped in. Now they get their guy and pair him with Calais Campbell. This Baltimore front seven just got even better than it was before. The Vikings get most of what they traded for Ngakoue back, and the Ravens get the guy they wanted all along.
Yannick Ngakoue signed a one-year, $12 million contract with the Vikings Sunday.
Ngakoue was traded to the Vikings in exchange for 2021 second round pick and conditional fifth round pick. The trade becomes official with Ngakoue signing a one-year deal. He was set to make 17.8 million, but took a pay cut of $6 million to play for the Vikings. Ngakoue racked up 41 tackles, 8.0 sacks and one interception across 15 games in 2019 for the Jaguars.
DE Yannick Ngakoue was traded to Minnesota in exchange for a second and conditional fifth-round pick that becomes as high as a third-round pick.
Ngakoue will have to sign his tender with the Vikings in order for the trade to be officially completed. Conditions on fifth-round pick are if Ngakoue goes to the Pro Bowl, it becomes a fourth-rounder. It would be a third round pick, if Ngakoue makes the Pro Bowl and the Vikings with the Super Bowl. The 25-year-old instantly improves the Vikings defense. Ngakoue racked up 41 tackles, 8.0 sacks and one interception across 15 games for the Jaguars in 2019.
