DE - JAC
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports Jaguars DL Yannick Ngakoue has parted ways with his agent.
Ngakoue is currently holding out and has no plans to report to Jacksonville camp anytime soon. The 25-year-old is willing to play on the franchise tag for other teams, but not for the Jaguars.
Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said that DE Yannick Ngakoue is the only member of the team that did not show up to training camp.
Marrone also said he hasn’t had any further conversations with Ngakoue. It’s no secret the pass-rusher wants out of Jacksonville, and it looks like he’ll be doing what it takes to force the Jaguars’ hand into possibly trading him. Hopefully something works out for both sides, because it’s clear Ngakoue doesn’t want to be a Jaguar any longer.
Jaguars star DE Yannick Ngakoue, who has expressed his desire to be traded, has had contract discussions with multiple teams and is willing to be flexible, but so far it has been the Jaguars’ unwillingness to deal him that has been the holdup.
The Jaguars have also spoken to other teams about Ngakoue, however they’re only going to move him if they can get what they want in return. Basically, they’re not going to trade one of the best edge-rushers in the league for pennies on the dollar. Ngakoue is scheduled to play the 2020 season for Jacksonville on the franchise tag if a trade can’t be worked out that benefits both the organization and the player.
Jaguars DE Yannick Ngakoue has no plans to sign his franchise tag by the July 15 deadline and still desires to be traded.
Sources tell ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that nothing has changed on the Ngakoue front from months ago, when he publicly announced his desire to be traded to another team. This is a situation worth monitoring as Ngakoue is one of the best pass-rushers in the league. He is likely to hold out for a deal rather than sign and play for the Jaguars under the franchise tag in 2020.
The "clock is running out" on a deal for Jacksonville defensive end Yannick Ngakoue and there "hasn't been much traction to date," according to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport is specifically talking about a deal happening either before or during the first round of tonight's NFL Draft. Ngakoue wants out of Jacksonville and does not seem to intend on playing under the franchise tag in 2020, so a trade could still be worked out after the draft. It's also possible that something picks up and comes together in the next few hours, but Rapoport notes that the complexity of such a deal makes it difficult to complete quickly.
