Za'Darius Smith
LB - MIN
2023 Outlook
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Minnesota Vikings edge rusher Za’Darius Smith has requested that the team release him, though the team intends on retaining the veteran pass rusher.
Fantasy Impact
Smith spent his first season in Minnesota after playing in Green Bay and Baltimore earlier in his career. Smith had 44 tackles, 15 for a loss, 24 QB hits and 10 sacks in 2022 on a Vikings defense that struggled. Minnesota ranked toward the bottom of the league in pass defense and releasing Smith would only hurt the team’s defense further. Smith is in Year 2 of a three-year deal.
Za'Darius Smith, who is questionable for Week 11's game against the Cowboys, will play, according to Tom Pelissero.
Fantasy Impact
Smith has yet to miss a game this year, but Pelissero suggests he'll be a bit limited with the Vikings playing on Thanksgiving and a quick turnaround. His presence is huge for Minnesota, given that he leads the league in tackles for a loss, so expect him to make an impact, even if his usage is limited.
Za'Darius Smith has been listed as questionable for Week 4 against the Saints.
Fantasy Impact
Smith was limited in practice on Friday. He got reps in team period, and little bit of everything. Kevin O'Connell said Smith will be a true game-time decision, but he is trending in the right direction.
Za'Darius Smith and the Vikings have agreed to terms on a three-year contract.
Fantasy Impact
The deal is reportedly for three years with a max value of $47 million. After three years with Green Bay and backing out of an agreement with Baltimore, the two-time Pro Bowler will stay in the NFC North heading into the 2022 season.
Ian Rapoport is reporting that linebacker Za'Darius Smith is not going to sign with Baltimore.
Fantasy Impact
It was reported that he and the Ravens were in agreement on a five-year deal, but apparently, that is not happening. Therefore, he remains a free agent and, presumably, his market should be quite active.
