According to his agent, K Zane Gonzalez was traded from the Carolina Panthers to the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday. The teams swapped future draft picks in 2025.
Gonzalez enters his sixth season in the NFL after being one of the most successful college kickers ever. The trade is also likely an indication that the 49ers will not be bringing back K Robbie Gould who is 40 years old and currently a free agent after six seasons with the team. Gonzalez has a career field goal percentage of 80.5% but nailed 90.9% of his kicks in 2022 in Carolina.
The Panthers placed Zane Gonzalez on season ending IR Tuesday with a groin injury.
Gonzalez suffered the injury during the Panthers’ third preseason game and was expected to miss an extended period of time. Now that he will miss the entire 2022 season, the Panthers will need to find a new kicker.

The Panthers have extended Zane Gonzalez for two years at $4.5 million.
