TE - SEA
Based on where Olsen's targets took place last year, he scored 20.5 fewer fantasy points than the average tight end would've, which was the worst mark in football, just ahead of Trey Burton. He's now 35 years old and wants to go to the booth soon enough. He was the Seahawks insurance to Will Dissly. Once they know Dissly is healthy, it's back to fantasy irrelevance for Olsen. If Dissly isn't ready for the start of the year, Olsen could have some streaming appeal.
Greg Olsen arrives in Seattle in a strange situation. Will Dissly has looked very impressive when fit and Jacob Hollister every managed to thrive in the Seahawks offence. Now that duo is joined by Olsen along with rookies Colby Parkinson and Stephen Sullivan. It certainly looks like from that mess, the elder statesman Olsen will emerge. Olsen's contract will cost $7 million against the cap and he's clearly still got it, finishing TE13 in the nightmarish Panthers attack last year. Clearly this is a great situation (Dissly and Hollister combined would've been TE8 last year) and Olsen is the guy so take a gamble on him! Still not convinced? Well his ADP has him going at the end of the 15th round! How could you possibly go wrong?
Olsen might have enough in the tank for one final season in the NFL, but it's unlikely to amount to much from a fantasy perspective. Even if Olsen sees 80-plus targets, he lacks the athleticism now to turn them into anything of value for fantasy football. He'll be a fringe TE2/TE3 this season.
Despite getting up there in age, Olsen showed he still had some gas left in the tank in 2019, finishing as the 13th-ranked tight end in 1/2 PPR formats despite playing just 14 games and scoring just two touchdowns. Seattle isn't a bad place for tight ends, but with Will Dissly expected back and Jacob Hollister still on the roster, it's unlikely that Olsen will see his usual number of targets. He's worth drafting in leagues that give bonus points to tight ends but he's outside the TE1 range in standard-sized leagues.
