Back with Packers = IDEAL scenario. TE3 last year and no competition added... But now Rodgers drama severely lessens his stock

Tonyan had a monster year with 11 receiving touchdowns, he should be a TE1 again in 2021 due to his red zone efficiency.

Tonyan finishes his breakout campaign with 668 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. Not too shabby for a 2017 undrafted free agent. Now restricted FA, GB likely to tender a 2nd for him

Big Bob Tonyan is the subject of a fair few mistruths. His fans point out that he was TE3 on the season and will do even better now that he's the established starter. His detractors suggest he's a free agent and can't be relied upon to re-sign when the Packers have used a high draft pick on a tight end in consecutive years. The truth is in between. Tonyan relied massively on his 11 TDs last year and Jared Cook showed us last season how quickly TDs can regress. With Davante Adams back in the lineup he was no longer a focal point and failed to surpass 20 yards in his final three regular season games. But he's also a restricted free agent so he'll near certainly re-sign with the Packers and remain their TE1, remembering that 37-year-old Marcedes Lewis has relegated Jace Sternberger to a healthy scratch all season and Josiah Deguara has one career reception in his two career games. The reality is that Tonyan will likely be a back-end TE1 in the near future but for me, he lacks the upside to be anything more.
