Week Rank (ECR) QB #19
Projection 18.2 pts

The Fitzmagic sizzled in Week 1, but it came back strong in Week 2. Miami's quarterback now ranks as the QB19 on the season. I'm expecting big things from him in Week 3, too, as the Jaguars are a bottom-12 defense against quarterbacks. Also, it's not like Miami has the running back talent to put up all of their points on the ground, so expect Fitzpatrick to be heavily involved in the offense on Thursday night. He should finally flash the chemistry with Preston Williams that we saw in the first half of last season, as WIlliams won't have an elite cornerback blanketing him. Fitzpatrick isn't quite a QB1 for me, but he's a respectable streaming option and a fantastic smash play at QB2.

After a brutal opening week that seemed like he'd get benched sooner rather than later, Fitzpatrick bounced back with a solid performance against a strong Buffalo defense. This seemed like a week they could go to Tua Tagovailoa and ease him into the NFL with an easy matchup, but it's hard after Fitz's performance in Week 2. The Jaguars have allowed a robust 8.6 yards per attempt to the combination of Philip Rivers and an A.J. Brown-less Ryan Tannehill over the first two weeks of the season. The good news for Fitzpatrick is that they've actually done a solid job slowing down their opponents' run game, as they've allowed just 176 yards on 49 carries (3.59 yards per carry) over the first two weeks, and the Dolphins rushing attack is not what you'd describe as "potent." And keep in mind their first two opponents were Jonathan Taylor and Derrick Henry, so it wasn't weak competition. Playing Fitzpatrick is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're gonna get. However, when you look at last year's performances, Fitzpatrick scored at least 14.3 fantasy points in all but one of his plus matchups. Knowing the Jaguars defense is in full rebuild mode, Fitzpatrick should deliver solid QB2 numbers, but there are likely better options in standard 1QB leagues.

The Ryan Fitzpatrick Experience is a fun ride and you never quite know what you're going to get. Against the stout Bills defense, Fitzmagic was able to put up great numbers. Now, he gets a matchup against the Jaguars defense that just gave up four passing touchdowns to Ryan Tannehill. While we shouldn't be expecting four passing touchdowns from Fitzpatrick, this is a great matchup and he can be rolled out as a fine streaming option this week.

Fitzpatrick has attempted nearly 40 pass attempts per game this season, and he gets a tasty matchup with Jacksonville's porous secondary in Week 3. He can be streamed confidently for those in need of QB help.

Fitzpatrick continues to play well for the Dolphins, keeping them close in games despite a banged up receiving group. He should keep Tua Tagovailoa on the bench for several more weeks at least, and can be considered a starter in two-quarterback leagues until his inevitable benching.
