QB - NYJ
Wilson has the draft capital to his name and he's got a pretty solid receiving corps surrounding him, but we need to see how he adjusts to the NFL game before we feel completely confident in rolling him into our starting lineups. He's worth drafting as a low-end QB2 in Superflex formats this year that has some upside if he can progress as the season goes along, but we shouldn't be looking his way during our 1QB drafts.
The Jets liked Wilson enough to draft him over Trey Lance and Justin Fields, which tells you just how high they were on him. Judging by ADP on the entire Jets roster, many are still approaching the team as if they're run by Adam Gase. Insider info: They're not. Wilson is locked in as the starter all year long in Mike LaFleur's offense, and fantasy managers need to know about Wilson's upside as a rusher. Even Daniel Jones, who threw for 11 touchdowns in 14 games last year and missed two games, finished as a top-24 quarterback due to his 423 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Wilson is going to finish as a top-20 fantasy quarterback in year one.
Insane arm, the line is boosting around him... should be a run-first Jets attack, but Wilson could kill it off play-action, and reports suggest he's been dominant so far
Wilson is an interesting rookie QB. My comp is Johnny Manziel without the substance abuse issues. Since we never saw what Manziel could do without those in the NFL this will be a fun career to follow. Wilson had some injuries in college so there are concerns if he can hold up. He's mobile and will gain some valuable rushing yards. I'm going to watch and see how he does in 2021 before casting my ballot.
The Jets are banking on the arm of Zach Wilson to lead them back from the pits of an Adam Gase-induced hell. There are some solid weapons around him, but this team is far from a finished product. Wilson could pop, but I'll be checking the waiver wire to see if he does.
There are *multiple* NFL teams that have Zach Wilson above Trevor Lawrence. - that's just nuts. Zach Wilson on throws that traveled 30+ air yards in 2020 was 20-of-27, a 74.1% completion percentage. The best by any FCS QB since 2012.
