OG - SF
Expert NoteView More Notes
Banks is a big and imposing presence on the middle of the offensive line that potentially has the size to kick out to Tackle if needed. He's strong and has solid anchor ability against bigger defensive lineman. He has a tendency to cross his feet in sets and has inconsistent hand placement that could come back to hurt him in the NFL. Overall, he has the size that NFL teams are going to covet, but he is a bit of a liability when he's asked to move laterally. He has a chance to be a quality starting offensive lineman in the NFL, but he might never be someone that a NFL team can completely feel confident in.

Aaron Banks selected No. 48 by San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers have selected G Aaron Banks with the No. 48 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Described by several scouts as a "bully" and built to dominate the trenches, Notre Dame G Aaron Banks will plug the interior of San Francisco's offensive line to help protect No. 3 overall pick QB Trey Lance. Trent Williams and Mike McGlinchey have the tackle positions secured but the interior was lacking outside of C Alex Mack during an injury-filled 2020 season in the Bay Area. Banks is elite in both run-blocking and in pass protection, using his hulking 6'6" 330-pound frame to open running lanes and seal up blitzes and bullrushes in obvious passing situations. Overall, this is a fantastic selection for 49ers' head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch.
