Don't be scared off by the fact that the Bucs drafted O.J. Howard and to a lesser extent, Chris Godwin. Sure, Howard is a great tight end prospect, but rookie tight ends rarely perform, and the fact is, Brate was #1 in the NFL in yards per route run so there is reason to believe he will again be an large part of the Bucs' offense.

Cameron Brate to open 2017 as starter?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat writer Trevor Sikkema is suggesting Cameron Brate could open the 2017 season as the starting tight end over O.J. Howard.

Fantasy Impact

Sikkema is citing Brate and Winston's rapport, which was heavily showcased in 2016, as a reason why he could enter 2017 as the starting TE over Howard. However, The rookie is fully expected to succeed Brate for the top spot on the depth chart as the season progresses. From a fantasy football perspective, I'd handcuff both of Tampa Bay's tight ends in the latter rounds of fantasy drafts and employ them into starting lineups accordingly.
